Michael was admitted to practice in 1988 and spent his time undertaking a wide range of practice areas as a solicitor at both plaintiff and defendant legal firms.

Michael has appeared as lead counsel in the High Court, the South Australian Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of South Australia, the District Court of South Australia, the Magistrates Court and the Coroner’s Court and at all levels of the South Australian Employment Tribunal (and the former Workers Compensation Tribunal and the Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal / Workers Compensation Review Panel) and the Federal Court of Australia undertaking a range of personal injuries, workers compensation, industrial / unfair dismissal / discrimination law and professional negligence matters.

Michael has previously been a member of the Industrial Relations Committee of the Law Society of South Australia and held various positions on the committee of the South Australian branch of the former Australian Plaintiff Lawyers’ Association (APLA) and contributed to submissions to the South Australian government in respect of amendments to workers compensation legislation.

Michael has delivered papers for the Law Society of South Australia (including country conferences), APLA (at both State and National Conferences) and the Society of Labour Lawyers (at “Both Sides of the Fence” Conferences).
